April 2017 | Receiving the Evelyn Sibley Lampman Award

At the Oregon Library Association's 2017 Annual Conference, I was deeply honored to receive the Evelyn Sibley Lampman Award.

The Lampman Award is given to an Oregon author, librarian, or educator who has made a significant contribution to library service for children and young adults — and it is named for a beloved Oregon children's author, which makes it especially meaningful to a storyteller. To be counted among its recipients, alongside so many people whose work I have admired for decades, is one of the great honors of my career.
