March 8, 2009 | Storytelling & the Craft of Story, First Presbyterian Church, Bend
From the archives: The Bulletin previewed an evening I loved — sharing world folktales and family stories at First Presbyterian Church here in Bend, followed by a look under the hood at how stories are built, and a signing of Hyena and the Moon and The Celtic Breeze.
Performance and craft have always been two halves of the same book for me. Telling a story is the joy; understanding why a story works — its bones, its rhythm, its repetitions — is what I get to share in my workshops with librarians, teachers, and parents.
